John Lee Hooker : Urban Blues (Expanded Edition)

John Lee Hooker

(August 22, 1912 or 1917 – June 21, 2001)

was an American

blues singer,

songwriter,

and guitarist.

The son of a sharecropper,

he rose to prominence

other elements,

including talking blues

and early North

Mississippi hill

country blues.

He developed his own

 driving-rhythm boogie style,

distinct from the

1930s–1940s

piano-derived

boogie-woogie.

Hooker was ranked 35

 in Rolling Stone'

2015 list of

100 greatest guitarists,

(1989),

Mr. Lucky

(1991),

Chill Out

(1995),

and

Don't Look Back

were album chart successes

 in the U.S.

and UK.

(for the song

 "I'm in the Mood")

 and

Chill Out

(for the album)

 both earned him

which went on to earn him

a double-Grammy win

 for Best Traditional

Eddie Cochran : The Very Best of Eddie Cochran

 Edward Ray Cochran

(October 3, 1938 – April 17, 1960)

was an American

 rock and roll musician.

His songs,

 such as

"Twenty Flight Rock",

"Summertime Blues",

 "C'mon Everybody"

 and

 "Somethin' Else",

captured teenage frustration

and desire

 in the

 mid-1950s

and early 1960s.

 Cochran experimented

with multitrack recording,

 distortion techniques,

and overdubbing

even on his earliest singles.

 Cochran played the guitar,

 piano,

 bass, and drums.

His image as a

 sharply dressed

and attractive young

man with a

 rebellious attitude

epitomized the stance

 of the 1950s rocker,

and in death,

Cochran achieved

 iconic status.

Cochran was involved

 with music from

 an early age,

playing in the school band

and teaching himself

to play blues guitar.

In 1955,

Cochran formed a duo

with the guitarist

 Hank Cochran

 (no relation)

and became known as

the Cochran Brothers.

 When they split

 the following year,

Eddie began a

 song-writing career

with

Jerry Capehart

His first success

came when he

performed the song

"Twenty Flight Rock"

 in the film

The Girl Can't Help It

starring

Jayne Mansfield

Soon afterward,

he signed a

recording contract with

 Liberty Records

and his first record

for the label,

"Sittin' in the Balcony",

 rose to number 18

on the

Billboard charts.

 PhilippĂ© Wynne

 (April 3, 1941 – July 14, 1984)

was an

 American singer,

 best known for his role

 as a lead vocalist

 of

The Spinners

a role he shared

with fellow

group members

 Bobby Smith

and

 Henry Fambrough

 Wynne scored notable hits

such as

"How Could I Let You Get Away",

"The Rubberband Man",

and

"One of a Kind (Love Affair)".

After leaving

 The Spinners,

Wynne never regained

 the same success,

 although he was featured

 in hits by

 other artists such as

 "(Not Just) Knee Deep"

 by Funkadelic

Wynne died of a

 heart attack

while performing at

 a nightclub.
